Subjects Taught
8th Grade English

I am a graduate of the University of Mississippi (Hotty Totty) where I earned a Bachelor's degree in General Studies. I had three areas of focus and those were African American Literature, Religious Studies, and History. I am certifed in ELA, History, and Health.

I am so excited to be a Southaven Charger for my second year! I will be teaching 8th grade ELA again this year! My past career experience has lead me to the Center Hill family where I worked for 2 years as a Special Education Assistant at the high school. Being a part of special education allowed me to help students with learning disabilities to be successful in and out of the classroom. I also provided instructional support for the lead classroom teacher increasing the overall success of the students.

I am a married mother of four beautiful children; 3 daughters ( Charli 12, Danni 10, Wray 8) and 1 son (John 4). My husband has a Masters degree of Accounting and previously taught and coached for roughly 15 years before retiring last year to become a commercial account manager for a major landscaping company in Desoto County. We are a family of farmers and we live on a working 200-acre cattle farm in Marshall County, MS; so before you ask, yes; I have cows and I drive tractors after teaching all day! Three years ago our world was rocked when our then 18 month old son was diagnosed with cancer and our family had to balance teaching, parenting, and life at St. Jude. Our son has been cancer free now for 2 years and last May our family was able to go to Disney World, ALL as FIRST-TIMERS, for his Make a Wish Trip. As a family we do a lot of community service work and community activism. Your community is my community and we are all in this journey together! It's going to be a GREAT year!!
